ADSS and Figure-8 Cable Support PS-SSM

ADSS and Figure-8 Cable Support PS-SSM

The PS-SSM, also called the SSM FTTH suspension clamp, secures round or figure-8 optical cables to poles and cross-arms during outdoor aerial FTTx installation.

Features

  • Clip-lock closure speeds up installation and reduces labor
  • Suitable for round and figure-8 optical cables
  • Durable UV-resistant thermoplastic and rubber construction
  • Pole mounting using stainless steel bands or bolts
  • Supports round cables from 8 to 20 mm in diameter
  • Strong and stable mechanical support
  • Economical pricing

Application

The PS-SSM supports round cables of 8–20 mm diameter and figure-8 cables with a maximum height of 20 mm. Its specified minimum breaking load is 3 kN. The patterned contact area increases grip and helps prevent loosening, while the insulating, UV-resistant plastic body and rubber contact material protect the cable.

The clamp distributes mechanical loading to reduce concentrated stress and maintain cable position on aerial communications routes. Applications include transmission-route fiber, backbone networks, utility communications, power-transmission communications, regional and national broadband, smart-grid infrastructure and industrial networks.

The described tensile test follows IEC 61284-1997 and uses a ZD-4 testing machine. The clamp is bolted to a steel plate at 90°, with the pulling force applied horizontally to simulate its outdoor service arrangement. The specimen is then loaded until failure.

The reported specimen showed no visible deformation or damage at 3.0 kN. A part of the clamp fractured after the load was increased to 3.86 kN. The reported conclusion was that the specimen passed the tensile test and was accepted following inspection.
