Dielectric FTTH Drop Cable Tensioner PA-166

Dielectric FTTH Drop Cable Tensioner PA-166

The PA-166 FTTH drop cable tension clamp attaches optical drop cables to overhead networks during optical distribution network (ODN) construction. The clamp provides mechanical retention to help prevent cable displacement and damage in outdoor service.

Features

  • Entirely polymer construction provides electrical insulation
  • Compatible with figure-8 cables with an FRP messenger, ADSS cables and FTTH drop cables
  • Straightforward tool-free fitting
  • Self-adjusting wedges protect the cable jacket
  • Durable UV-resistant thermoplastic for outdoor use
  • Opening bail simplifies attachment to pole brackets and hooks
  • Economically priced

Application

The PA-166 clamp secures FTTH drop cables during overhead subscriber installations in optical distribution networks. It links distribution infrastructure with end users in residential communities, apartment buildings and rural broadband projects.

The wedge mechanism retains the cable without crushing or deforming its sheath, helping preserve transmission performance throughout service. Weather-resistant materials withstand UV exposure, moisture and temperature changes.

A compact design and tool-free fitting support quick deployment, making the clamp suitable for high-volume FTTH rollout work.

Ultimate tensile strength testing evaluates a product’s capacity to withstand mechanical pulling loads. Opposing tensile forces are applied to a specimen until it deforms or fails. The resulting measurements provide information on elongation, yield point, tensile strength and ultimate strength.

JKTE uses tensile testing for pole-line suspension clamps, preformed guy grips, ADSS dead-end fittings, stainless steel bands, FTTH drop clamps and tension clamps.

For overhead optical cables and their accessories, endurance testing combines mechanical and thermal loading with oscillating stresses. The applicable test values depend on the requirements of IEC 61284.

These standard-based tests are applied before new products are released and during routine production to check conformity with quality requirements. JKTE’s in-house laboratory carries out the relevant series of type tests.
