Figure-8 Optical Cable Suspension Clamp SSD

Figure-8 Optical Cable Suspension Clamp SSD

The SSD provides suspension support for figure-8 fibre optic cables on short spans in outdoor FTTX transmission networks.

Features

  • Two-sided clamp configuration
  • Simple fitting without additional tools
  • Designed for straight FTTH cable routes
  • Protects the cable jacket and insulated messenger during support
  • UV-resistant thermoplastic insert with galvanized-steel plates
  • Durable performance in outdoor environments
  • Economical suspension solution

Application

The SSD supports figure-8 cables on straight aerial routes and routes with slight changes in direction. It is used between poles, buildings and telecommunications structures, helping reduce the effects of vibration and mechanical stress on the cable. Suitable projects include FTTH, FTTB and general fibre optic network construction.

The integrated clamp uses internal grooves or a patterned gripping surface to increase friction and resist cable loosening. Its plastic insert and metal plates secure the cable and help protect it from external exposure.

General test method

Ultimate tensile strength testing evaluates a product’s capacity to withstand mechanical pulling loads. Opposing tensile forces are applied to a specimen until it deforms or fails. The resulting measurements provide information on elongation, yield point, tensile strength and ultimate strength.

Tensile testing is used to assess pole-line suspension clamps, preformed guy grips, ADSS dead-end fittings, stainless steel bands, FTTH drop clamps and tension clamps.

For overhead optical cables and their accessories, endurance testing combines mechanical and thermal loading with oscillating stresses. The applicable test values depend on the requirements of IEC 61284.

Such tests can be conducted before product release and during routine production to assess conformity with the applicable quality requirements.
