Universal Optical Drop Cable Retainer D4

Universal Optical Drop Cable Retainer D4

The D4 optical drop cable retainer holds 4–6 mm round drop cables on overhead pole routes, street crossings and building façades.

Features

  • Suitable for pole and façade installations
  • Accepts round drop cables from 4 to 6 mm in diameter
  • Cable attachment requires no tools
  • UV-resistant body for exposed outdoor service
  • Cable routing accommodates the bending requirements of ITU G.652D and G.657A1 fibres
  • Specified span range: 30–50 m; minimum breaking load: 0.5 kN

Application

D4 provides cable retention for aerial and wall-mounted FTTH connections, residential broadband services and telecommunications access networks. The compact retainer helps hold the cable securely while reducing mechanical stress on its sheath.

A grooved gripping surface increases contact friction to resist loosening. The UV-resistant plastic body supports outdoor use. During installation, maintain the cable manufacturer's permitted bend radius and avoid damaging the fibre through excessive bending.

General test method

Ultimate tensile testing measures the load a component can sustain under mechanical tension. Opposing pulling forces are applied until the specimen deforms or fractures. Measurements can include elongation, yield point, tensile strength and ultimate strength.

This method is used for pole-line suspension clamps, preformed guy grips, ADSS dead-end fittings, stainless steel banding, FTTH drop clamps and strain clamps. Endurance testing may combine tensile loading with thermal and oscillating stresses; applicable conditions are selected with reference to IEC 61284 for overhead-line fittings. Such tests can support product qualification and routine production quality control. This description explains the test method; it is not a model-specific test report.
